Garrigues: most innovative firm in continental Europe, according to the Financial Times
Garrigues picked up the award for ‘Most Innovative Firm in Continental Europe’ at the FT Innovative Lawyers Awards handed out every year by UK financial broadsheet the Financial Times to groundbreaking initiatives from European firms (see the official press release).
For the third time in four years, Garrigues was awarded this prestigious accolade, as well as making the cut in a further four categories: ‘Most Innovative Firm in Europe – including the United Kingdom’; ‘Dispute Resolution’; ‘Finance’ and ‘Social Responsibility’ in recognition of the excellence of the Firm’s professional services.
Elsewhere, Garrigues is the only Spanish firm to place among the top ten in the ranking of the most innovative law firms published by the Financial Times every year, claiming sixth spot.
As well as being the sole Spanish firm in the ‘Most Innovative Firm in Europe – including the United Kingdom’ category, the other nominations obtained single out initiatives such as the development of an in-house methodology for legally filing and managing refunds of taxes contrary to EU law, in both the administrative and judicial jurisdictions (Dispute Resolution); participation in the first ever issue of contingent convertible bonds known as “Cocos” (Perpetual Preferred Tier 1 Securities) (Finance); and the launch of an original tool for identifying and monitoring emerging issues and problems that may be a source of risks and opportunities for companies (Social Responsibility).
